Kindergarteners through 2nd graders will be rustling up for our Annual Bike Rodeo! Students will learn to ride their bicycles or scooters through the various obstacle courses and also learn “first-hand” from Highland Village Bicycle Patrol Officers about Bicycle safety. rewarding and fun programs at McAuliffe, offering:
Flexibility – work on your own schedule!
Helping students – meet some of our great students!
Computer skills – brush up with basic word processing
and an easy graphics program!
Each book only takes about 2 hours a week for 3-4 weeks.

We are looking for “A Few Good Men/Women” to volunteer for Field Day. During Field Day, students will rotate to different stations where relay and cooperative activities will be directed by our parent volunteers. All volunteers will have information and directions for the stations they are assigned to help with. Field Day is all about having fun! This day is designed to promote friendly competition and cooperation among our students. Be watching for a sign-up letter that will be sent home with students the second week in October!

KidStage is an after-school drama program which involves acting classes, theatre activities and performance opportunities for kids of all ages. The curriculum includes concentration, teamwork, improvisation, movement, voice, theatre terminology, and much more. At the end of the classes, the kids have the opportunity to perform in a production. Kids have the opportunity to do it all on stage and off, we've had kids as actors, singers, dancers, stage managers, lighting and sound technicians, prop masters and costume designers. Everyone has the opportunity to participate-no one will be left out of the performance. Being Drug Free... It Starts With Me!!! McAuliffe Elementary will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week Oct 24-28, 2011. Please join in by participating in some fun activities to reinforce the importance of making good choices. We will be kicking off our Canned Food Drive this week!! We 'CAN' say NO to drugs!
For every can donated, that child will get an entry form to vote on which teacher they want to see in the Spagetti dinner contest the night of the Spagetti dinner!
On Monday morning we kick off the week by signing our grade level flags and pledging to be drug free!
Each child will be given a red bracelet to wear and throughout the week we will be giving away prizes to those caught still wearing their bracelet.
Monday: I'm too cool for Drugs... Wear Sunglasses
Tuesday: Drug Free from head to toe... Wear a crazy hat AND crazy socks
Wednesday: Team up against Drugs... wear your favorite team jersey

McAuliffe's Wee Deliver program is an in-school post office staffed by students. Mail is delivered on Wednesdays between 7:30am-7:45am. Stamps are 1-cent for regular delivery and 5-cents for special delivery given directly to the teacher, if possible, for immediate delivery. Stamped envelopes are also available for 5-cents per envelope regular delivery and 10-cents per envelope for special delivery. I items mailed must not be larger than a 6x9 envelope. Letters and cards from home are allowed. Mail must be properly addressed with the full school address of the person you are sending it to as well as your full return address. Wrap Pacs are packs of high-quality school supplies that are shrink-wrapped and custom-packed by grade level, according to the exact requirements of McAuliffe teachers.
