Challenger Publishing

Challenger Publishing

News from
Challenger Publishing Company
We’ve had a fantastic summer-
Now let’s create some amazing books!
Kids, this summer if you had an adventure, wrote an awesome story,
created some cool artwork, or wrote a poem, let’s turn those into
a great book.
Bring your imagination and your treasures to your teacher so we can start your book publishing process.
Volunteers, we need you!!! This is one of the most
rewarding and fun programs at McAuliffe, offering:
Flexibility – work on your own schedule!
Helping students – meet some of our great students!
Computer skills – This year we are taking our book making process online with a fun and user friendly program that focuses on educational programs like ours.
In past years each book has taken about 2 hours a week for 3-4 weeks. With this new format we hope to continue to make creating books a smooth process that works with our volunteers’ schedules.
Thank you to all the volunteers who have already contacted us.
If you think you might want to join us, please contact April McClarnon!
She can answer any questions you might have.
And if you just want to try it out,
consider doing one book with us to see how you like it.
We welcome everyone to Challenger Publishing and look forward to another creative and fun year!

Reflections

Reflections

PTA Reflections 2012-13
“The Magic of a Moment”

 Reflections kick-off Wednesday, September 26th
Submissions  are due Friday, November 2, 2012

Big Changes . . . Reflections 2012
New Online Process! (Only for Advancing Entries)

* Note: All School entries will still fill out a Paper Entry for each entry submitted.

National PTA will be rolling out an online process where the Local PTA participation form and student entry form will be completed online. Student entry forms will only be required for each “advancing” entry. This online process is only for identifying advancing entries. PTAs will continue to forward the physical entries for each level of judging. Council PTAs will have the ability to access and download a spreadsheet with their Local PTAs’ Reflections information to use in administering the Reflections program (i.e. tracking Local PTA activity, mail merges, assigning judges, etc.). Council PTAs will also use this same online system when identifying entries to be advanced to Texas PTA.

Introducing the Special Artist Grade Division
National PTA and Texas PTA are excited to introduce the Special Artist Division for our Reflections program. This new grade division is limited to students who have physical, cognitive, or mental health challenges as defined by the Americans with Disability Act. Currently, students with developmental challenges may enter the program in the grade division that is appropriate for their cognitive level. Parents and teachers of qualifying students may now choose to enter the student in the new Special Artist grade division or continue with the current process, but not both. Separate rules for the Special Artist Division are attached and will be posted on the PTA Website under the Reflections program.
